Spaghetti Skillet is an easy one pot spaghetti meal your whole family will love. Long before Hamburger Helper Spaghetti folks were making this delightful spaghetti noodle recipe.

Who doesn’t love recipe when you are in charge? Go through your refrigerator and see if you have some leftover peppers, mushrooms, or maybe you have some pepperoni. Anyone of those would be great to toss into this spaghetti. Now, if you are gluten-free, you could easily swap out the semolina-based pasta for a gluten-free variety. This is going to be your one-pot wonder, so be creative if you desire.

Tricks for Cooking Spaghetti in a Skillet

We all know how to cook spaghetti in boiling water. We have been cooking spaghetti this way forever. Hamburger Helper does not have the lock on special noodles. You can cook ordinary pasta in a skillet. The trick is you will need additional water. The pasta will soak up the liquid it is being cooked in. Different kinds of pasta will soak up differing amounts of water. If your pasta begins to stick to the bottom of the pan, simply add more water. For this specific recipe, you can add additional tomato juice.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 8 ounces dry spaghetti
Instructions
  1. In a large skillet break up ground beef and combine all the ingredients except the spaghetti.  Cover and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Add spaghetti; stir to sperate strands Simmer covered for 30 minutes.
